Shades of Gray

It’s nice to have cards on hand that are appropriate for both men and women. This is one of those cards that can work for either. I think it tends more towards the masculine side, however. I used the Plank Background from Simon Says Stamp as well as the CZ Design stamp set, Great Things and coordinating dies. All three are available at Simon Says Stamp.

Using only gray shades of Copic Sketch markers, I colored in each box of the vertically positioned plank background. I liked the idea of the lines running vertically towards the letters to fit with the “headed your way” phrase embossed in white below the feature words, “Great Things.” I alternated with no careful thought using the C, W, N and T shades of gray. It’s fun to see how “blue” the cool grays are in comparison to the neutrals, toners and warm shades. I loved the look when I was done with it. Great Things was stamped in black on white cardstock and die cut using the dies. It’s a clean and simple look, but works with the plank geometric pattern. You need the crisp white to relieve your eye from the busier background and make the letters stand out. To finish the card, I added silver metallic stars and some rhinestones for a little spark!
