I have been so busy making holiday cards for upcoming releases. It was nice to stop, take a break from December holidays and enjoy the colors and flavors of fall. Today’s card follows the Inky Paws Challenge #108 sketch. The sketch includes a tag on it so I created my own tag using a seed packet instead. Here’s the products and links to them at Newton’s Nook Designs:

To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I started by creating a colorful fall background using Ranger Distressed Inks in blues, golds, oranges and rusts. I randomly added the colors to make it very splotchy and colorful. I also splattered black and white ink over the top for a really textural look. I also added black ink to the edges of the card front.

Next, I stamped in Versamark and embossed the Beautiful Leaves images on a band of navy cardstock. the navy band was added to the bottom of my card front. I also stamped the leaves on white cardstock using black ink and die cut them. I colored them in using Copic Colors of B41, B45, Yr23, R05 and various other fall-toned yellows, reds and oranges.

To make the tag, I used a seed packet from the Target dollar section and splattered white and black ink on the top. I also punched a hole at the top and added blue and white baker’s twine and tied it into a bow. I stamped “grateful” in Versamark and heat embossed it using black embossing powder. I added a medium blue faux ribbon to the front to match the sketch. To make the ribbon, I added white stitching along the edges of medium blue cardstock and cut the edge in a V-shape. I arranged the leaves, tag and faux ribbon to fit with the challenge sketch and adhered the layers in place on the card front and attached it to a warm gray card base to finish the card.
