Card 1: Dreams Come True Congrats Card

I created my first card using two new release items, the Large Congrats Die that I absolutely LOVE and the very easy and useful Reverse Grad Sentiment Strips. Note – The strips contain sentiments that are not just specific to graduation like the one shown here on my card. I also used the following products available in the SSS store:

Leafy die cuts from the Be Kind Die Set (from a prior release).

Canson XL watercolor paper

Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors 36 count size  (I love this set so much!)

Uni-Ball Signo White and Gold gel pen

To make this card, I die cut the leaves and a 5″ X 7″ card front from the Canson watercolor paper. I also die cut the Large Congrats die word from vellum (shadow piece) and a deep teal and a metallic gold for the word (front die piece). The teal and gold words were glued together, slightly offsetting the teal to the right. The words were adhered to the vellum shadow piece and set aside.

I used bright oranges, corals and pinks to create the organic watercolor background, leaving the top of the card front clean. I also added watercolor to the leaves, painting only 1/2 of each leaf, keeping the other 1/2 neutral. Once dry, I speckled teal watercolor paint on the leaves and added some white and gold markings using my Uni-Ball Signo gel pens. This is where your doodling skills come into play! The leaves were added to the card front with Gina K Connect adhesive. The focal die was secured to the front with Scrapbook Adhesives foam tabs. I punched two small holes up in the corner so that I could tie the metallic cording bow into place and secure it permanently in the corner, on the back side of my watercolor paper. This is an area where adhesive might not work/hold it in place. I wanted to make sure the bow did not fall off. The reverse out strip and the sequins were glued into place to complete the look. The entire card front was attached to a warm gray 5″ X 7″ card base. I love the little black strip at the top. It darkness and high contrast with the white gives the card some balance to the colorful bottom. This card fits in an A7 envelope for mailing.

Card 2: Thanks Mama for Being There Card

To make this card I used new release products,  MAMA Outline Die and the Mom Word Mix stamp set. I watercolored and doodled on the background using:

Canson XL watercolor paper

Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors 36 count size

Uni-Ball Signo White and Gold gel pen

To make this card, I created a colorful background with the watercolor paints in an azalea pink, a yellow-green mix, and aqua tones. I die cut the MAMA word die and assembled it with vellum for the shadow piece and metallic gold and white for the letters. The word was adhered to the front using 3M Foam Tape. I stamped the phrase from Mom Word Mix in black, right under the focal word using my MISTI stamping tool. I added small gold circles, filled with white gel pen for added interest and whimsy. Glossy finish enamel dots in coordinating colors were added to this 5″ X 7″ card.
