Its’ Day 2 of the Two-Day Blog Hop at Simon Says Stamp (SSS) and we are celebrating Sunny Days Ahead! There are so many exciting and new products now available at Simon Says Stamp. You can link right to the products from here. I participated in yesterday’s blog hop so make sure to check out my post if you have not already.

Today, I have another card to share using my very favorite die from this release, the Large Congrats Die. I’m pairing it with the Reverse Grad Sentiment Strips that are not just for graduation. There’s phrases that just work for non-graduation events, too. For this card I’m using a graduation-themed strip from the set.

To make this slimline card measuring 3.5″ tall X 8.5″ wide, I created a diagonal pattern for the word shadow die of this 2-piece die set. This is a great way to use up your strips and scraps of cardstock! Just apply strips to a piece of cardstock and die cut it. I die cut the front word die in a metallic gold and a warm gray and offset them a bit so you see both colors. The word die was then attached to the pattern shadow. I also die cut a 3mm black craft foam using the shadow die and glued that to the back of the shadow to make it dimensional.

For the background of this slimline card, I cut a card front piece from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock measuring 3″ tall X 8.5.” I simply added organic dots to the white cardstock from left to right, in pink using a Copic Sketch RV55 marker, and metallic gold and metallic silver using my Uni-ball Signo gel pens.  It shimmers so pretty in the light. 🙂 I added strips of metallic gold and warm gray to the bottom of the card front to match the “congrats” word. Both are about 1/4″ tall X 8-1/2″ wide.

The card front was attached to a card base measuring 3.5″ tall X 8.5″ wide. The Happy Graduation” sentiment strip was added below the word and enamel dots were attached above the focal point “congrats” in colors to match the diagonal pattern shadow to complete this card.
