Woodland Christmas Card

My slimline card measuring 8-1/2″ wide X 3-1/2″ tall uses the following Holiday Cheer Release products:

Woodland Winter Animals stamp and coordinating die sets

Country Christmas Wreath stamp and coordinating die sets

Birch A2 Cover Plate die

Slimline Horizons Border die set (for the snowy hills at the bottom)

Toy Store House Builder stamp and coordinating die sets (for the North Pole sign, only)

To create the scene for this card, I started by applying a watercolor wash using Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors on the background Canson XL watercolor paper. Using Honey Bee Precision Glue, I adhered this panel piece to my card base made out of white 80lb cardstock (I use this cardstock for all other layers). I added distant birch trees using the Birch A2 Cover Plate die.  I die cut two, and added trees to both side. I also added two foreground trees with a bit of coloring on them from the Woodland Winter Animals stamp set. I added snowy hills at the bottom using the curve-shaped hill die from the Slimline Horizons Border die set.

I needed two bears with opposite arms reaching out to hold the string ends. To do this, I stamped a bear from the animal set on white cardstock and then stamped another one using the mirror stamping technique. I stamped the image on flat  red rubber and then positioned my paper on top of the red rubber and tapped/pushed down on it to transfer the image to my paper. This creates a mirrored version of the image. It works great and is necessary for this type of application.

I stamped, colored and die cut the North Pole sign, four gingerbread (embossed using WOW! white embossing powder), the Santa hat and the bird. I attached the four gingerbread on a string of red/white baker’s twine and tucked the ends of the strings behind the bear hands to complete the card.
