Hello crafty friends! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here with another festive, holiday card using products from the latest release, Holiday Cheer by Honey Bee Stamps. Today, we are headed to the North Pole to check in on the elves that are working hard to make dreams come true for all the boys and girls around the world. I hope you will join me on this tour. 🙂

I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products today:

Toy Store House Builder Add-On die set and Toy Store House Builder Add-on stamp set

House Builder Card Base die set (This is the foundation set for all House Builder Series Add-on sets.)

Gingerbread House Add-on die set (for the scalloped roof)

Santa’s Village stamp and coordinating die sets.

No Peeking stamp set (for the “no peeking” phrase, only)

Santa Express stamp set (for the phrase inside)

The House Builder series’ sets create house-shaped cards when complete. You need the House Builder Card Base die set to use the add-on sets. The latest Holiday Cheer release includes the new Toy Store House Builder Add-On die set and Toy Store House Builder Add-on stamp set. Everything on this card was stamped and/or die cut from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock except for the pink cardstock inlays on the outside and the solid green shadow layers on the tree inside.

For more options, you can mix and match dies and stamps from the add-on sets. For example, I’m using the scalloped roof die from the Gingerbread House Add-on die set, (last year’s holiday set) for this card. I added glitter and some shading to make the scalloped shingles really stand out.

Instead of a shaped card, you can also create the store and adhere it to your favorite card size, too. I like to add it to a 5″ X 7″ card base so I have room to add exterior elements around the house as well. The shaped card alone will fit inside an A2 envelope. Now, let’s take a peek inside…

Inside, the North Pole Toy Co. are shelves filled with an inventory of toys ready to be delivered on Christmas. You can see the elves are very busy stacking, organizing, decorating and even gift wrapping, too! There’s so much to do before Christmas! The phrase on the inside front cover is from the Santa Express stamp set. The “no peeking” phrase is from the set of the same name.

To keep the elves’ spirits bright while working, one big tree stands tall, right in the middle of the store with gifts and toys galore underneath. To make the shelves, I simply used the columns from the store’s exterior for the vertical supports and added a strip of gray cardstock for the shelf above. For the wood floor, I used a ruler and fine-tip black marker to create the wood planks and colored them with E43, E42, E50, W3, W1, C3. I used a white gel pen for the ornaments on the tree. To make the tree look full, I die cut two sets of every layer of the tree – one solid green and one white that I colored in greens – and glued them together. Everything on the card was adhered in place using my favorite glue – Honey Bee Stamps Precision Glue with the stand.

With holidays being difficult this year due to the pandemic, I feel like ornate cards like this one, with more details to look at and enjoy are fun to send to those not able to leave home often. I have an elderly friend in her 90s that just loves to receive a card in the mail. She often will display my cards in her home and enjoy looking at them for weeks. It makes it all worth it to me. 🙂
