Now it’s time to see one of the new sets by Jane’s Doodles… I’m using the new stamp set called, “Sweater Weather” for today’s card inspiration.
This is a slimline card measuring 8-1/2″ wide X 3-1/2″ tall. It’s made from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. I like to cut the card base measuring 10″ X 7″ and scored down the middle as well as cut a separate card front. I do all my stamping and coloring on the card front and then attach it to the card base when it’s complete. This conceals/hides my color bleeds on the back side and makes the card more sturdy. It’s also easier for me to work on a one-layer surface for stamping and coloring.
To make this card, I stamped and cut out the penguins and trees separately. In hindsight, I could have just stamped them on the front and built my scene around it, but I was unsure how I wanted to place them. Instead, I created the scene by hand drawing the hills and pond using a mix of BGs and BV colors. I l like to use: BG000, BG00, BG01 and BV000, BV)) and BV01. For the trees, I used YG65, YG17 and YG03. These are always my green to-to colors.
Next, I added the trees and penguins to the scene. I put them all on the ice pond in the forefront. I added some Uni-bell Signo White Gel Pen marks to the trees for more snow. Lastly, I added the “oops” speech bubble. I think it fits this little guy perfectly. It’s also a great card to add “I forgot your birthday” inside or “I forgot to share / tell you…” Most likely, I will use this as a belated birthday card! I need those from time-to-time. Oops! 🙂
