SURPRISE! There’s a party inside! The Papertrey Ink’s July release goes live tonight, 7/25 at 10:00 PM ET so we are celebrating with an Instagram Hop today. The hop is filled with inspiration from the design team and special guest designers, too. Make sure to head over and leave a comment on my Instagram page for a chance to win prizes! Details are listed in the post here. You can also look for the graphic to the left on all participating designers’ posts.
I’m sharing my Instagram Hop card here with all the details below. You can conveniently link directly to the products I used by using the links below. It also helps me to continue to bring fun ideas for free to you! Let’s get started!
NOTE: LINKS WILL BE LIVE AT 10PM ET on 7/25 when the release goes live!
My featured card measures 5″ X 7″ and includes a cute little door for the front panel. I cut down the front panel of my A7 card base to fit the door size. To make the door, I added 1/8″ strips of a warm gray on a 3-1/2″ wide X 7″ tall white piece of cardstock. This decorative detailing helps define the panel as a door with moldings. I also stamped and cut a window from the Window Garden stamp set and colored it to look like a woodgrain frame and attached it to the door. Inside the window panes, I added confetti and 1/2 of a balloon shape to look as if you were looking inside to the party decorations. Two bows from the Balloon Bouquet set were used to hold a sign on the door with a sentiment from the set, “Hooray, It’s Your Birthday” stamp set. Soft woodgrain markings using W1, W3 and W4 were added to the sign’s background to make the sign look like wood. I also used a shiny black enamel bubble sticker for the door knob on the door.
Peeking out the door are three cute pups from the Paw Prints stamps and dies. I kept them all white and added some spots using the stamps in the set. I hand drew two simple party hats and attached them to two of the dogs. Copics in B05, Y19 and YR09 were used to color the hats. The hats were backed with white cardstock to cover any color bleeding. I attached the dogs to the door panel and then attached the panel to the card base so that the dogs were “sandwiched” in between the panel layers. This keeps the inside of the card (when the panel is open) looking neat and clean.
Once the dogs were in place, I cut the balloons using the Balloon Bouquet dies and attached all the pieces together using glue. I also stamped the Birthday Wishes background stamp using several shades of Distress Oxide ink blues including: Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch. I started from lightest at the top to darkest at the bottom, overlapping to create an ombre effect. The balloons were attached over the background design and behind the dogs at an angle. I wanted it too look like the balloons were peeking out the door, too. Little dots of confetti from the Balloon Bouquet die set were added for a festive feel.
