Hello Simon Says Stamp fans! The month of June is all about rainbows at Simon. I’m sharing two cards today during the Rainbows Release Hop on Instagram. Many talented designers are sharing creative and lovely projects filled with inspiration and color. I hope you join us on IG. Just look for the Rainbows design (to the left) on participating IG posts. There’s even a chance to win prizes at each hop spot. One person will be randomly chosen to win a $25 gift card from the comments section of each stop including my IG post here! Simon Says Stamp will announce the winners on its Instagram feed on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Make sure to comment over on IG for a chance to win! Now for more details regarding my projects…
I’m sharing two cards that both offer a colorful rainbow on the front. Both rainbows are unique and are from different sets. I’m using the following Simon Says Stamp products from the Rainbows release:
You Are Loved stamp set and coordinating die set
Bright Stripes Rainbow Card
This 5″ X 7″ card starts with a card base made from Neenah 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. The front panel is cut from Canson XL Bristol Smooth watercolor paper. I brushed on a set of red to pink watercolor strokes using Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors (48) on the paper for a background. Once the stripes were dry, I splattered intense red watercolor paint for added interest.
I stamped, colored and cut out the cute rainbow from the Hello Sunshine stamp set . I added two clouds colored in BG02, BG01, and B00. The rainbow was colored in R29, R14, R83, R81, BG49, BG11. YG21, YG00.
I stamped and heat embossed the phrase from the same set on the front and attached the rainbow using Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares. Lastly, I added sequins in light aqua and teal to accent the front. The card front was attached to the card base to finish the card.
Celebrate Rainbow Slimline Card
For this 3-1/2″ wide X 8- 1/2″ tall slimline card, I started by stenciling the stars using Distressed Oxide Ink in Mermaid Lagoon on a light aqua cardstock. I added faux white stitches around the larger stars.
I used the rainbow from the You Are Loved stamp set and coordinating die set. I colored the rainbow using Yg00, YG03, R22 and R14. I also stamped and die cut the “celebrate” rectangle and added it to the front of the rainbow. With the slimline card being so long, I thought it would be fun to add baker’s twine to the ends and allow them to hang freely. I attached them to the back of the rainbow and attached the rainbow to the card front using Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares.
Sequins finish of the look on the front. I attached the front to a white card base made from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock.
