My mom’s baking day was always Saturdays. Often my parents would have card club on Saturday nights so this worked out well with mom’s very rigid schedule and Saturday baking. I never minded because I got to enjoy the baked goods all weekend long! Today’s card takes me back to those baked goodies my mom would make. Cookies were always in the mix so when I saw the Gingerbread Add-on stamp and dies sets from Honey Bee Stamps, I knew one card I wanted to make…a baking day card!

I’m using the following products from Honey Bee Products:

This 5″ X 5″ vintage-inspired holiday card is really easy to make and you can adapt to make it even easier by changing the background, etc. I wanted it to look like the baking sheet was cooling on an old-fashioned chopping block to wood table in the middle of a vintage kitchen so I chose the woodgrain background stamp for the card base front. I colored it in woodgrain E colors and inked the edges with black. I layered a strip of the gingham pattern paper on top to mimic a vintage checked tablecloth. Next I took a piece of silver metallic paper scrap I had and cut it into a rectangle, rounded the corners with a corner rounder and scored up both side of the landscape-oriented cookie sheet about 3/4″ to 1″ in from the edges. I defined the curve of the cookie sheet using a Copic C5 marker.

Next, I stamped the gingerbread, candy canes and stacking tree cookies from the Gingerbread House Add-On stamp set on kraft paper using Versamark and heat-embossed them with WOW! white embossing powder. I added a bit of shading around the white icing for depth,  die cut them out, and adhered them to the cookie sheet. Lastly, I added a few white hearts to the cookie sheet for fun and also to the bottom where I heat embossed the words, “warm wishes” from the set, Winter. The hearts look like the little candies you buy to decorate cookies which made them the perfect choice!
