Hello, friend and lucky hopper! I’m so glad you hopped by today.  As “luck” would have it, I’ve got two projects to share on Day 1 of the Simon Says Stamp Lucky to Know You release blog hop. There’s also an opportunity for you win a gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp by simply leaving me a comment below. Don’t forget before you leave! Let’s start off with my first card…

Gnome Spring Gnome!

These sweet spring gnomes are right at home in this lovely tulip garden. I wish these lovely tulips were in my garden. 🙂 I used the following Simon Says Stamp products to create this 5″ X 7″ card:

The tulips are so easy to make with this layering set. The Layering Tulips stencil set includes four layers so you can add varied colors for depth to the leaves and blossoms. I used the following Distressed Oxide Inks  for these tulips:

Yellow Tulips:  Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed

Peach Tulips: Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade and Abandoned Coral

Leaves: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Lucky Clover, Forest Moss

The background is simply black watercolor paint splattered on 80lb white cardstock. The gnomes were colored using Copic Markers in shades of yellows and corals. Foam tape was used to create more dimension between the layers. The phrase was heat embossed using WOW! White Opaque embossing powder and a Versamark pad.

Inlaid Cross and Crocus Sympathy

My second card takes a more serious turn as a sympathy card. I used soothing colors in blues, greens and yellows for this 5″ X 7″ card. The card features the following products:

CZ Design Inlaid Cross die set

Crocus Flower die set

CZ Design Clean Line Everyday stamp and die sets (from the Believe In You release)

The background and the cross inlays were created with watercolors using Canson XL Watercolor paper and Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi 36 color watercolor set . I die cut the crosses and the crocus and assembled the elements. Next, I added the crocus in white outline to the background and layered the crosses and filled crocus on top. I added foam tape to the top cross for added dimension. Lastly, I added the sentiment, “with sympathy” stamped using a Versafine Black Oynx ink pad and die cut it out.
