Hello friends! I’m back with another sweet winter scene available for digital download at RAM Stamps. Rachelle Anne Miller illustrated this beautiful scene called, Woodland Snowman. I added a little gingham to it to make this a sweet, holiday greeting measuring, 5″ X 7″. With digital stamps, you can make the scene any size, allowing for any size card you like to make which is fantastic. The scene is already put together for you so no need to do any digital work. Just download, size to your liking and print!

Card Construction

To make this card, I simply printed off the design to fit my card size, allowing some border allowance around it. I print my designs on Neenah 80lb smooth cardstock because this paper works well with Copic Sketch Markers for coloring. I backed the illustration with a complete card base made from the same white cardstock. I adhered a piece of Honey Bee Stamps gingham pattern paper in this pretty, blue-violet color to the card base front panel. It makes a sweet backdrop to the scene. I love the look of gingham with some faux hand-stitching so I added a border around my design and at the bottom of my gingham using a fine-tip black marker. Simple little stitches can make the paper really look like it’s a cotton fabric which I love. Since the pattern paper comes in a 6″ Square size and my card is 7″ long, I am left with a 1″ white space at the bottom. I stamped a sentiment from one of my stamp sets in this space. The sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Greetings Mix 1 stamp set. This is a great staple set for Christmas cardmaking.

Coloring the Design

To color the design, I used the following Copic Sketch Marker colors:

  • Blues: B28, B26, B02, B00
  • Reds: R27, R17, R14
  • Oranges: YR07, YR68
  • Greens: YG63, YG61
  • Browns: E44, E43, E43, E41, E57, E55, E53
  • Skin tones: E04, E11, E00, E000
  • Cool Grays: C5, C3, C1
  • Blue-Violets: BV01, BV00, BV000

For the snow covered areas, I used a blue (Boo and B000) and a blue-violet color scheme (BVs listed above) to coordinate with the gingham backdrop. Blue-violets are perfect for snowy shadows and can look so pretty instead of using just grays or blues. Give it a try!  You can shop the complete line of Copic Sketch markers at Simon Says Stamp.
