As we get older, we have to laugh at ourselves. The aging process is an easy thing to make fun of in birthday cards. I think it’s fun to twist words to mean something different than the what the reader is expecting for an element of surprise inside. In this card, “bathroom bars” takes on a whole new meaning inside the card.

To create this card, I hand-drew a bathroom scene inside with a tile floor and walls. The tub and accessories are from a retired My Favorite Things (MFT) stamp set, called “Time for the Bubbly.” The tub was not large enough for my room so I stamped it and then extended the tub using a black marker. The small “bars” placed around the tub were created using images from the same set. I hand-drew the rug underneath the tub and stamped the interior using flowers and leaves from another MFT stamp set called, Blissful Blossoms. Any flower set would work for this.

The bubbles on the front of the card were created by using a circle stencil for the shape and then coloring them in using Copic Sketch markers along with a highlight mark using the Signo Uni-ball white gel pen.  For the words on the inside and the outside, I did use my laptop and printer to add them to the card. Remember, you can make any phrase simply by running your cardstock through your printer!
