From our gnome to yours… Gnomes are so popular and now they are not just living in our  gardens anymore. They are appearing in our homes this holiday, too!  I’m using the Christmas Gnomes stamp set by Sweet ‘N Sassy Stamps  (Also available at Simon Says Stamp here) for my card today.

To create this 5″ X 7″ card, I created the background design using a ruler and black fine-tip marker. I drew shiplap on the wall two-thirds of the way up the wall and wood planks on the floor. I made a black framed window using Hero Arts Nesting Rectangle dies (essential die set!) and 1/4″ strips of black cardstock (for the window grid panels) and added a vellum insert and solid insert behind it.  I colored in some blue lines on the solid insert so that it looked like sky out the window. The layers were adhered together and attached to the shiplap wall using HBS Precision Glue.

I stamped the phrase from the set in black in the upper right corner. I punched out two circles to create the wreath and added two colors of green leaves to it. Using a strip of red cardstock, I “hung” the wreath in front of the window. I also hand drew the garland and added it to the wall for more decoration.

I colored the gnome images with Copic Markers, cut them out and added them to the scene. I used Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares behind the tree trimmer gnome so he would pop out a bit from the scene. Here are the Copic colors I used to color the images:

  • Gnomes – C9, C7, C3, R89, R59, R24, R14, E11, E00, YG67, YG03, YG01
  • Box – E57, E55, E44, B04
  • Tree – YG67, YG03, YG00, Y19 and a Uni-bell Signo White Gel Pen
  • Shiplap walls – C1 and C3 for shading on the planks and around the window
  • Wood floor – E43, E53, E42, W3, W1, C3 and C1 for shading
  • Color around the lit bulbs: B000, Y06, Y00, RV10,

I used Nuvo drops for the red and silver balls on the garland and wreath. I also used various colors of bright drops for the Christmas lights and Christmas tree, too.
