Greetings, Crafty Friends! I’m sharing a card today that features some of the new Halloween sets from Paperie Ink. It’s a Halloween card with a slight twist. It says, “I love you to the TOMB and back.” 🙂 How cute is that for a Halloween card for a loved one?!
To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I used the following Paperie Ink stamp sets:
The Boo Crew – Animals in costume, speech bubbles, moon
My Boo – Ghosts, tombstone silhouette(s) on the hills, phrase
The convertible is from The Greetery. I used both the Top Down stamp and the coordinating Top Down die set.
Background Design
To make the background, I blended Ranger Carved Pumpkin and Wild Honey Distressed Inks using my Honey Bee Blender Brushes (love them) then sprinkled water on the ink and blotted it with a paper towel to achieve the splotchy look. I added a black strip at the bottom of the card front to “ground” the car on a road way. I stamped the tombstone border twice, hand cut the orange background into two pieces and added a black strip in between the stamped images to give the appearance of hills of headstones. I stamped colored and hand cut the larger outline tombstones and glued them in front of the black (tucked behind the orange hill) to make them really stand out from the rows of silhouettes. I know this is not how they would appear in real life, but hey, it’s an effect to draw attention to them. 🙂 I colored these larger ones with Copic Markers, using my Y18 and Y15 as if the moon was casting light on the tops of the stones. I tucked a mummy in between them from the Boo Crew stamp set and added the cute moon at the top.
Foreground Design
Now that the background is ready, it’s time to add the foreground items. I stamped and cut out the car, animals in costume, the ghost and the cute speech bubbles. I arranged them, adding the two animals to the car. I could only fit to treaters in the car. I tried three, but that car just isn’t big enough (that’s why the mummy is in the grave yard. :)) I colored the card using V09, V15, V04. The Vo4 gives it that rich brightness to make it really stand out! I love the bright car contrasted with that strip of black.
Everything was glued in place using the Honey Bee Stamps Precision Glue (available at Simon Says Stamp or at Honey Bee Stamps .) LOVE this stuff. No clogging… ever! Honey Bee Stamps even offers a stand for it which not only keeps the glue down in the point (no clogging and ready to use, but also looks pretty on your desk) in black/white striped holder and rainbow striped holder.
I stamped the phrase at the bottom in Versamark and embossed it using white embossing powder to make it really stand out. This card mails inside an A7 Envelope with no extra postage required if mailed in the United States.
