Hello, friends! Marie from The Greeting Farm created these awesome Valentine Phrases just in time to use for Valentine’s day. I made two cards using these sayings to show how fun they can be as a background or simply a phrase with images. The best part – you can purchase, download and use them today, in time for Valentine’s Day!
For my first card, I used all the phrases to create the background for this card. I simply kept most of them the size that they come and fit in a few smaller versions here and there. I printed it out on 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock and cut it down to a 5″ X 7″ card front size.
Since this card will go to my father-in-law from the twins (a boy and girl), I hid the phrase “Love you, Babe” by adding a big heart in the center. Had I thought of how I was using this card first, I would have left that phrase off entirely. 🙂 Sometimes a mistake leads to a creative challenge. I simply die cut a heart shape around a “Happy Valentine’s day” phrase and positioned it over the “babe” phrase on the card front. Problem solved.
Before adhering the heart to the background, I applied Copic color to the die cut, creating a subtle variation. I used RV91, RV02 and RV00. I added faux black stitches around the perimeter and then applied RV93 around the outer edges to make the heart shape stand out just a bit more from the background. Around the edges of the background, I ink blended Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry Distressed Oxide inks for color. I kept the center plain white.
The boy and girl are from the Dress Up Winter digi set. This set is fun because you can pick and choose what clothes to put on them. I made sure they had some red on for Valentine’s day. Their outfits sort of match for color repetition. I added one on each side of the heart so that it looks like they are holding the heart sign in the middle. Lastly, I added a few clay heart bits right about the big heart in the middle and attached this completed card front to a white card base made out of 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock.
