Hi friends! There’s a new release at Paperie Ink today! I’m sharing one of the five new sets in the release called Deep Down. For this card, the sea life fun is all inside! I created a diorama scene card with an acetate, window filled with all the cute deep diving friends in the set. Take a look…

This card measures 5″ tall  X 7″ wide when folded flat. When open, it is 6″ wide because of the 1/2″ sides that allow the diorama card to have dimension. It folds flat to fit inside an A7 sized envelope. To create this card I cut the following panels from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock:

  • I cut a front panel that is 7 wide X 5″ tall and scored one short edge in at 1/2″ for the spine of the card.
  • I cut 2 – the interior front panel and back panel at 7″ wide X 5″ tall and scored at 1/2″ in from both short sides.

I used a Hero Arts Infinity die with rounded corners to cut the window out from the front interior panel. I attached a piece of 5-3/4″ wide X 4-3/4″ tall acetate inside the window and adhered on all edges using double sided tape. Glue works, too, but you have to make sure you don’t allow any to smudge the window.

Before attaching the front and back together, I applied Mermaid Lagoon Distressed Oxide Ink to the back panel using a blender brush to create the sea water background. I filled the window with all the cute images that I stamped, colored and cut out to use. I used the Twisted Crepe die cut from The Greetery for the seaweed in a couple of green colors of cardstock. It works great as seaweed with its slight bend and entanglement features! I suspended some of the animals from seaweed for multi dimensional looks.

Once everything was glued in place, I attached the front and back together on the sides using Scor-Tape double-sided .25″ tape. This side folding diorama card measures 6″ wide X 5″ tall  X 1/2″ deep when it is opened so that when it is flattened, it fits inside an A7 envelope nicely, requiring no additional postage either.

For the front panel, I blended on some Mermaid Lagoon Distressed Oxide Ink to the corner of the front panel using a blender brush to create the sea water background. I added a cute giraffe to match the inside and a star fish. Small dots using Pear Pen in a coordinating glue makes the floating bubbles to complete the look. I attached the front panel at the spine on the left using more double sided tape.

I did a card last year that was similar that many people really liked so I decided to do it again. You can read about this one here.
