- Oh, Snap stamp set and coordinating die set
- Big and Bold Sentiments
- Papercrafting Magic stamp set
To create this card, I started by stamping the crocodile and coloring him in olive colors. I used Copic colors: YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, YG00, C1 and 100. I die cut the reptile using the coordinating die set and set him aside while I made the card elements.
I cut a 7″ X 8-1/2″ card base from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock and scored it down the middle to create the 8-1/2″ wide X 3-1/2″ tall card size. Next, I cut strips in gold, orange and blue cardstock in the sizes shown above. I added 3M 3/4″ foam adhesive strips to the backs of all three, positioning the tape as noted. I also cut a white strip as shown.
Two of the colored strips were attached to the card base at the top (gold) and bottom (orange) by peeling away the release paper from the foam tape strips. Between the two colored strips, I stamped the “Happy Birthday” phrase from the Big and Bold Sentiments in black using my MISTI tool. I added small white markings along the edges of the colored strips for added interest without distracting from the crocodile’s handsomeness.
Next, I attached the white larger strip to the back of the blue strip (sandwiching the foam tape), making sure about an 1/8″ of white cardstock extended beyond the blue strip on both sides from the front. This extension will slide behind the colored strips, keeping the blue strip in place and allowing it to fit nicely inside the center. I added a “pull” tab made from two 3/4′ circles glued together and attached to the blue strip on the righthand short side. The “pull” word from the Papercrafting Magic stamp set was stamped and heat embossed in white on the tab. The crocodile was attached to the center of the blue strip. This card strip slides open and closed beautifully and reveals the hidden phrase inside!
Inside the card, I stamped in black, the cute crocodile’s head and the phrase from the set to finish this card.
Well, it’s time to say…. “See you later, alligator, after while crocodile!” I hope you enjoyed my card. If you decide to place an order (shop here), please use the links in this post so that Trinity Stamps knows what inspired you.
