Hello! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here sharing a tri-fold card using the Let’s Get Crafty stamp and coordinating diesLast week, I used the sewing elements from this craft-themed set. Today, I’m featuring the painting supplies images. This set is one that is probably close to all of our hearts because it has so many fun images that we can relate to as crafters. My thought with this card was to show a progression. Life can look perfect, but often gets messy at times, and with help from loved ones, it can be beautiful again. ?

I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products for this card:

Let’s Get Crafty stamp set and coordinating die set

Paint and Palette die set (Note: There is a palette in the Let’s Get Crafty set, but this palette die set is much larger and used here.)

Apron A2 Card die set

Darling Dahlias stamp set

Kiss the Cook stamp set and coordinating die set (for the “Life is” sentiment, only)

Tailgate Alphabet die set (for the “messy” letters, only)

To make this 5″ X 7″ tri-fold card, I started with a 11″ wide X 7″ tall black card base and scored 3″ in from each side to create a 5″ panel in the center. The 3 inch “wings” on each side will be the panels that the front panel and the left panel will attach to (on the opposite side) for the tri-fold design. The front panel is the neat and tidy apron and palette, the left panel is the messy palette and the center panel is the beautiful dahlia – showing how life can be perfect, messy at times and then beautiful again.

For the front panel, I heat embossed the brushes from the Let’s Get Crafty set in white and splattered some white paint using Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleed Proof Paint. I layered a clean apron, a perfectly tidy palette, paint brushes and paint tubes on top. I used the larger size apron piece in the set and added the pocket and faux stitches to the front of the apron. I stamped the “Life is” sentimentdie cut it and attached it to the pocket. Note: You could just stamp it right on the pocket before I assembling the apron instead. I used the following Copics to color the elements:

  • Apron: E40, W2, W1, W0
  • Paint tubes: R89, R29, R14, B39, B24, C7, C3, C1, C0, 100
  • Brushes: 100, C9, C7, C5, C3, C1, E51, E50
  • Palette: E53, E43, E50, E42, E40, E57

For the middle panel, I die cut the letters MESSY using the Tailgate Alphabet die set and colored them and the palette with the same colors used on the front panel, only in a messy fashion. Another splotched tube and brush were added to the panel. The white paint on the brush tip and panel were added using a white gel pen (size 10).

I stamped the dahlia on the center panel and colored it using the colors from the paint palette. Each petal was colored in a bright color using a darker, medium and lighter shade of the color to give it some dimension. I also stamped the phrase from the set and added a few black dots around the flower to complete the inside.

A closer look at that pretty dahlia. Isn’t she marvelous?! Loved ones in our lives can make life beautiful, even after facing difficult times in our journey. All three panels were attached to the tri-fold black card base to complete the card. I did trim 1/4″ off the width of the right panel (the “messy” one that folds inside from the right) to make it fit nicely inside the card.
