Hello! I got some fun butterfly dies in the mail the other day and could not wait to dress them up and parade them around on Instagram! I’m using Bibi Cameron’s latest die set that she designed for Spellbinders called, So Many Butterflies. There are five butterflies in the set and the largest one is really big! It measures 5″ wide by 4″ long and fits inside an A2 envelope. It’s so big, I made cards out of them (see my other post).  Here’s a fun A7 card I made using these butterflies as the feature design.

The featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panels. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use the Bee Creative Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink Pad for all heat embossing and Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue for adhering my elements together. My cards are 5″ X 7″ in size unless noted.

Sending Hugs Butterfly A7 Card

To make this card, I die cut the largest butterfly from black cardstock and black craft foam and attached it to a 5″ X 7″ card base, accented with some black and white pattern paper and 1/8″ strips of black and gray solid cardstock.

I used a paper punch to punch out bright colors of cardstock from my scraps bin and added them to the bold, black butterfly for a fun confetti-like design. I added more at the bottom of the butterfly and scattered fewer at the top.  I added white and black dots to the centers of the dots for dimension and whimsy. The body of the butterfly was die cut in black and attached to the center of the wings using Scrapbook Adhesives 1/4″ black square foam tabs. It raises it a bit for dimension.

Two of the smaller butterflies were added above the feature along with a few more dots of confetti. Lastly, I stamped “sending you” and die cut the “hugs” word from the Bitty Buzzwords stamp and coordinating die set by Honey Bee Stamps to finish out the card. The shadow die is in a warm gray and the top layer in black.
