Hello, Simon Friends! It’s time for the Make Magic Instagram Hop. So many talented designers are sharing ideas using products from the release. Today, I’m sharing three cards on my Instagram page that feature the following four new products by Simon Says Stamp:
Silhouette Sentiments and coordinating dies
Sexy Hexies Background Stamp and coordinating dies (Note: I did not have the coordinating dies so I used Hexagon Tile Wafer dies for card one)
Before we look at my cards, I want to invite you to the IG Hop. Start on my IG account, @BobbiHartDesign and follow the designer list presented in the post copy. Simon Says Stamp is giving away a $25 gift card at every stop on the hop. One winner will be chosen from those who leave a comment on my IG post. Simon Says Stamp will announce the winners on its Instagram feed on Wednesday, August 4, 2021
Card 1: Sexy Hexies
My first 5″ X 7″ card features the Sexy Hexies Background Stamp. I stamped it on 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock using Hero Arts Intense Black ink. I took scraps of watercolor paper I had on hand and die cut them into hexagon shapes and glued them to some of the open hexagon shapes on the background stamp. I used the wafer dies from the Hexagon Tile Wafer dies set to do this.
Next, I stamped, “Hex Yeah” phrase from the CZ Design Hex Yeah stamp set at the top of the card. I embossed in white using Wow! Bright White Opaque Embossing Powder on black cardstock, the smaller phrase from the same set to complete this card.
I love how quick and easy this card was and I didn’t have to sacrifice its “cool” vibe! This card fits inside an A7 envelope for mailing.
Card 2: Sunny Days Ahead Slimline
My second card is a slimline card measuring 3-1/2″ tall X 8-1/2″ tall. I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors (48) and Canson XL Bristol Smooth watercolor paper for the front panel. I used soft, springy, rainbow colors to wash the background.
I trimmed off about 3/4″ from the top and added the fun mini square background inset using the Open Grid Background stamp. Using some of the extra stamped grid, I cut out mini squares and positioned them so that it looked like they were tumbling down the card at the top. I colored the mini squares to match the watercolor background wash.
I die cut the Sunny Days Ahead die in black and white and offset the white over the black to create a bit of a black shadow. It really helps to make it stand out from the background. I added some faux black stitching at the top and bottom to complete this card.
Card 3: Thinking Of You Silhouettes
My last card is a 5″ X 7″ card with a watercolor wash background. I stamped the Silhouette Sentiments in black on the watercolor background and added the “thinking of you” phrase. Butterflies were stamped above the wildflowers. I used Hero Arts Intense Black ink for the image and phrase stamping and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors (48) and Canson XL Bristol Smooth watercolor paper for the background color wash.
This card is another super quick and easy one. The contrast of the black with the soft background really makes this card’s beauty stand out.
The front panel was adhered to a 5″ X 7″ card base made from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock.
