Hello Bee Friends. It’s Bobbi Lemanski here sharing a card idea inspired by my mom. My mom used to create these interesting and intricate terrariums to sell in her flower shop. These gardens were like little worlds of “happiness.” I just wanted to step inside and walk around the garden and enjoy the plants, streams and animals she would put inside. I love finding alternate uses for sets and today I’m using the holiday Snow Globe A2 Shaker die set to create the glass terrarium planter like my mom used to make. Not only is it filled with plants, but a small stream, rocks and a rainbow, too! Like all glass-domed terrariums, there is hole in the back for easy access and air for the plants to grow 😉 I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products:
Snow Globe A2 Shaker die set
Happy Plants stamp set and coordinating die set
Rooting For You stamp set and coordinating die set (for an inside sentiment, not shown)
Rainbow Wishes die set
Inside: Kindness Sentiments stamp set and coordinating die set
To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I started by ink blending Distress Oxide Inks in Mermaid Lagoon and Squeezed Lemonade. I splattered water drops on the top and blotted it dry using a paper towel to lift the ink. This makes the background splotchy and perfectly imperfect for an interesting sky.
I die cut the Snow Globe frame from black cardstock and the window from clear acetate and glued the frame to the acetate. I also die cut the globe’s frame base from brown cardstock and colored it to look like woodgrain. I used Copics in E59, E57, E55, E43 to create the wood pattern. The woodgrain piece was glued to the front bottom, for an organic, terrarium base. Next, I stamped, colored and die cut the plants for the terrarium. I used the following Copic Markers to color in the plants: YG67, YG63, YG61, YG03, YG00, G99. I added layers of soil to the terrarium by adding hand-cut layers of brown cardstock. I “planted” the garden by tucking the plants in the soil layers. Next, I added a small stream of decorative blue rocks using Nuvo Drops in Blue Lagoon. I also added white rocks with my Gelly Roll White Pen.

Using the Rainbow Wishes die set, I created a rainbow from a poppy red, peach, pink, yellow, dusty green and light aqua cardstock colors. I chose more modern tones over the traditional rainbow colors for a current look. The rainbow was positioned and attached in the back and centered in the terrarium. Before attaching the terrarium, I stamped the phrase from the Inside: Kindness Sentiments stamp set on the card front, making sure the phrase would be centered inside the terrarium once the dome was attached. Wooden butterflies (These butterflies are no longer available, but here is an excellent substitute) – one inside and one outside the garden – finish the look. I hope this card made you smile today!
