Hello friends! It’s Bobbi Lemanski back with a fun and fruity card for summer using one of my favorite Sunny Studio Stamps sets called Tropical Paradise Stamps. I have several nieces and nephews that are in the 25+ age range that love to have fun, fruity alcoholic summer drinks at the lake. This birthday card is very fitting for the next gen’s summer birthdays!
How to Make this Card
To create this card, I started by cutting a 5″ X 7″ front panel from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor paints to splatter bright, summery colors on the background. I also added four 1/4″ strips of color at the bottom in pink, yellow, aqua and deep orange. I like the little extra color it offers this card front.
Next, I stamped in black, two pineapples, drinks, coconut drinks and flowers. Each one was colored using the following Copic colors:
- Yellows and Oranges: YR68, YR27, YR24, Y38, Y19, Y08
- Reds: R27, R24, R17, R14, R22, R20
- Greens: YG67, YG03, YG01, YG00
- Aquas: BG10, BG11, BG23
- Warm Grays (for shading): W3, W1, W0
I also used a white gel pen for the pineapple highlights and coconut texture.
The images were die cut and attached to the front. I used Scrapbook Adhesives to make a few of the images more dimensional such as the pineapple and one of the drinks. I added some simple shading using W3-W0 Copics below the elements to stand out a bit more. Lastly, I stamped the word “Cheers” from the set right in the center of the images.
