This Card… A Piece of Cake!

This Card… A Piece of Cake!

Hello, friends of Honey Bee Stamps! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here with a fun birthday cake card. Honey Bee has this adorable slice of cake die cut card. You can make the frosting and cake any flavor you like, too. 🙂 The card base fits nicely inside an A2 envelope. I love a 5″ X 7″ card so I made this die cut card a component of an A7 card size instead. I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products:

Birthday Cake A2 Card Base die set

Make a Wish stamp set

Birthday Wishes stamp set and coordinating die set

Best Gift Ever stamp set

Bee Bliss 6″ X 6″ Paper Pad (Note: I’m using a retired paper below, but the new pad has a similar, but updated pattern.)

How to Make this Card

To make this card, I started with a card base made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock. I attached a 5″ wide X 6″ tall pattern paper to the top and added a 1/8″ strip of orange cardstock at the bottom edge. I stamped “Happy birthday to you” in the bottom white space using Bee Creative Black Intense Ink.

On a separate sheet of white cardstock, I splattered watercolor paint in various colors and set it aside to dry. I added a little shading in E53, E51 and E50. I die cut the cake sections from the splattered paper using the die. I also die cut the cake slice card base from white cardstock as well as the dollops of frosting. The cake sections, top layer of frosting and dollops of frosting were assembled and the entire card base was attached to the card front. Candles, strips of colorful frosting and cake sprinkles finish the cake slice.

Inside the die cut cake slice card, I cut a strip of leftover splattered cardstock (to match the cake), stamped a phrase from the stamp set, Best Gift Ever stamp set, added faux stitches using a black marker and attached it to the inside. I inserted a gift card for the gift.

Inside the 5″ X 7″ card, I stamped phrases from the Birthday Wishes stamp set to finish this card.
