Hello friends. You know when you see something while crafting and you just have to try it. Well that happened to me the other day. I was creating this snowflake card using the Snowflake Medallion by Simon Says Stamp.  and had an idea. What if I used all the insets of the snowflake to create something else… like a tree? Could it work? I laid them out on my crafting mat and there is was… a glittery tree! I’m using the following products by Simon Says Stamp for my two cards below:

Snowflake Medallion die NEW

Luxe Black Glitter cardstock NEW

CZ Design Clean Line Christmas

For both cards, I ink blended Distress Oxide Inks in Unchartered Mariner, Chipped Sapphire, Faded Blue Jeans, Broken China, and Tumbled Glass to create the background. I splattered on dilluted white paint for the snow.

Glittery Snowflake Card

I die cut two snowflakes – one white and one from the silver Luxe Glitter cardstock. I layered the two flakes, attaching both with Bee Creative Precision Tip Glue by Honey Bee Stamps. I kept all of the inside “extra” cuts from the snowflake to make the tree in the next card.

Using scraps, I used a two sizes of hole punches to cut out circular pieces. I used them to add sparkly “gems” to attach around the snowflake.  I also heat embossed in white, the “calm & bright” sentiment from the CZ Design Clean Line Christmas stamp set. Once everything was done, I stitched around the outer edge of the front panel and added circular punch outs to the sewn lines. The whole panel was attached to a white card base.

Inside the card base, I stamped a few more sentiments from the same Christmas stamp set and attached a glittery star above.

Glittery Tree Card

This card is so easy to make and it uses the scraps from the first card. Can you believe it?

Using all of the cutouts from the two snowflakes in card 1, I created a pyramid which resembles a tree shape. I added the glittery cutouts between the white ones for extra flair and fanciness! I added a snowflake from the medallion at the top.

Note: My tree uses 10 cutouts. I cut out another set of snowflakes so that I could use the center snowflakes of both the white and glitter snowflakes to top off my tree. In the process, I used four additional cutouts to make this bigger tree of 10 cutouts. I love how this turned out.

I stamped in Versamark and embossed in white the “season’s greetings” sentiment. I stitched around the tree using my sewing machine and added circle punches of the glitter cardstock. Again, these circle punch cutouts are amazing because they are cardstock that lays flat, but they act as a sequin. It’s the perfect option for cards that need to be mailed!

Inside my card, I added a sentiment and also stamped a few stars on top from the same stamp set. These cards are easy to mail because the punch outs sit flat. They are paper instead of sequins!
