Welcome to Day 1 of the Simon Says Stamp Blog Hop! I’m participating in this hop to celebrate the new release, “Dear Friend,” along with many other designers today. Hop to each designer’s blog (list below) and gain loads of inspiration and ideas along the way. Leave a comment at each stop for a chance to win a $25 coupon.  One winner will be selected from every stop on the hop. If you leave a comment at each designer’s blog, you will have fourteen chances to win $25!  Simon will choose the winners and post on the Simon Says Stamp blog on Wednesday the 24th of May.

For my inspiration cards, I am using the following new products from the Dear Friend release:

Supercalifragilistic stamp set and coordinating dies

Hey Girl wafer die

Howdy stamp set and coordinating dies

Fancy Thanks Wafer dies

Now on to the cards…. My cards below measure 5″ X 7″ and fit inside an A7 envelope. I’m using 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock for the card fronts and card bases unless noted. Everything is stamped using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. I use Simon Says Stamp Dot Runner Tape Adhesive to attach the elements together. Here’s the details.

Hey Girl Party Card

For this 5″ X 7″ card, I used an aqua blue cardstock for the front panel and white cardstock for the card base. I stamped, die cut and colored two margaritas using the Supercalifragilistic stamp set and coordinating dies. To “clink” the glasses, I needed two mirror images so I cut off the lime on the right side of one and reattached it on the left side of the margarita. Once I attached the glasses to the front, I colored the drinks, layering the colors at an angle, making it look like the liquid is levelling in the glass. The glasses were attached to the front using Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares.

I created fringe in pink, green, aqua and yellow and cut them into smaller pieces to create the crisscross multi-color fringe banners. I cut  the Hey Girl Hey die from white (letters) and black (shadow) cardstock and attached it above the clinking glasses and over the garland. I punched out some small circles in bright colors and attached them around the glasses and phrase. I added white highlight marks to the dots using my Sakura Classic White Gelly Roll white pen. Lastly, I stamped the phrase from the Supercalifragilistic stamp set between the glassed to finish this card.

A Howdy Thank You Card

For this A7 card, I started by splashing black and yellow Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors (48) paint to my card’s front panel. I used the Howdy stamp set and coordinating dies to create the girl and landscape. I used Copic Sketch Markers to color the images. I added a large yellow ink blended circular shape to the background of the scene to look like a sun.

I stamped the phrase from the Howdy set on the card front, along with the die cut word, ” thanks” using the Fancy Thanks Wafer dies and attached it to the card. Black adhesive-backed enamel dots accent the “thanks” word and complete the look on this card!
