Hello friends. I had the opportunity to collaborate with Altenew on a couple of designs this month and this card is my second card I’m sharing. (In case you missed my first card, here is a link to it!)  I’m using some very fun products by Altenew including:

Craft-A-Flower: Zinnia Layering Die Set

Rustic Linen stamp set

Both of these sets take me back to my younger years growing up. Mom always planted zinnias around our family home flower beds. She liked the color and height. My mom was also a big seamstress. She used to make me clothes and wedding dresses for brides. I remember brides coming over for fittings. You could say this card feels like very much like home to me. It’s warm in memory reminders and the colors are very warm, too.

To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I stamped white cardstock with Tattered Rose Distress Oxide ink and the Rustic Linen stamp set  to create the fabric-looking background. I attached the cardstock to a pink cardstock splattered with metallic bronze paint. I stamped a sentiment from the Rustic Linen set in the lower left corner. I’m off to a good start already!

I applied orange and yellow watercolor paints to watercolor paper and let it dry. I splattered on a deeper orange paint over the watercolor wash to create the vibrant spotted flowers. I wanted these blossoms to feel very organic. I cut the layers of both flowers using the Craft-A-Flower: Zinnia Layering Die Set and attached them together, matching the center opening marking. I added pearls to the centers. I must say the Altenew products are so easy to match up with the center opening markings and the numbers embossed into the pieces… so fabulous and smart!

I had some extra petals cut so I made a small bud to match the two zinnias. The leaves were die cut from brown cardstock. I added stitching and pearls to them to fit the sewing theme.  I attached the flowers to the card front.

I added some layers of lace, binding down the right side and a natural trim piece, all from my very old stash of fabrics and trims, some of these were my mom’s scraps! The ruler-printed binding is one I had left over from my scrapbooking days. I glued the trim pieces in place. Using my sewing machine, I stitched around the perimeter and around two sides of the sentiment to highlight it a bit. I added faux black stitches around the sentiment from the set, Rustic Linen stamp set  to highlight it more. Buttons and safety pins were added to fit the theme. I attached the card front to a A7 white card base to complete the card. This car has mom written all over it for me!
