Hello friends! Today I’m sharing a wedding card featuring the Gorgeous Peonies stamp set and dies by Alex Syberia Designs. We have six weddings to attend this year and four of them are in the next month! It is wedding season for the Lemanski family.
I made this lovely 5″ X 7″ card for the happy couple getting married this weekend. I love that this floral set comes as one stamp and one die. It’s so easy to stamp and cut all of the elements at once and not have to fuss with individual pieces! This set also has a coordinating stencil. If you are not one that loves to color, use the stencil for perfect shading and highlighting.
I wanted to do something a little less expected with the stencil for this card. Instead of using the stencils to color my flowers and leaves, I used the stencil to create the background and left the stamped designs uncolored. I love the strong contrast between the black and white illustrations with the soft-looking aqua blue background. I chose Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink for the background flowers because it is the perfect blue for “something blue” for the couple. I used only one stencil layer to stencil on the flowers in the blue color.
With the background ready, I added a rectangle to the front panel using white cardstock splattered with gold watercolor paint and matted in a warm grey cardstock. The size of the finished rectangle is 4″ long X 2-3/4″ wide. With the rectangle in place, I stamped all the flowers and leaves in black, cut them using the coordinating die and layered them over the rectangle. I attached two of the flowers in the foreground using foam tabs to make them stand out more. It gives the floral spray more dimension.
Using delicate dot and striped pattern papers in a matching blue, I cut one 1/2″ wide X 5″ long and one slightly wider and layered them together. I stamped the “congratulations” sentiment on the strip and attached it to the panel, allowing some of the leaves and buds to drape over and under the sentiment strip. The sentiment is from the Chrysanthemums stamp set. Lastly, I added soft aqua blue pearls in two sizes above and below the sentiment strip.
