Hello friends. I wanted to share some information on the projects I created for the Alex Syberia Design’s “Grateful for You” Instagram Hop on October 24. I am using the new Smile More stamps and dies to create this 5″ X 7″ card and coordinating gift tag.
“Let it Snow” Holiday Card
For this 5″ X 7″ card, I used a fallish-themed stamp set to create this holiday card. The penguins in the Smile More stamp set were just perfect for this card. I used the stamps and coordinating dies (Available at Simon Says Stamp here.) to create this furnished iceberg to make this card. For the scene, I hand drew three triangular mountains in the background and an iceberg in the forefront using a black fine-tip marker. These are basic lines that come to life once colored using markers. I colored the mountains using Copic Sketch markers in C3 and C1 gray markers. For the water, I used B000, B00, B21, B41, B95, B93 and B91 Copic colors. I also LIGHTLY blended Distress Oxide Ink in Tumbled Glass and Faded Jeans for the mid-section of the card between the bottom of the mountains and above the iceberg.
I stamped, die cut and colored the penguin image, table and cup using the following colors:
- Penguins: 100, C9, C7, C5, C3, C1, YR68
- Couch: R89, R46, R27, R14 and a white Gelly Roll pen
- Table: E59, E57, E55, E43
- Books: B95, B93, B00, R89, R46, R14, YG67, YG17, YG13, YR24, Y19
- Cup: R29, R14
I adhered them to the iceberg, added some shadowing below the couch and finally splattered white paint over the scene. I stamped, die cut and attached the sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments stamps and coordinating dies.
One last thing… it just had to snow on this furnished, outdoor, iceberg room! I use Dr. PH Marten’s white ink and a fan brush to make the splatters. I mix the paint with a little water to make the ink more flowing. I flick the brush all over the front. Note: I did do it before attaching the “Let it Snow” sentiment. This makes the sentiment full inked in black with not white over it. Here’s an alternative white paint that would work and sold my Simon Says Stamp.
Penguin Gift Tag
I made a matching gift tag using the same set. I love these cute little slippers and of course hot cocoa in the hand is necessary on a cold night! I used the same colors that I listed above for the card. The slippers were done in R85 and R81. The tag base is made using the Snowflake Layering Die. I die cut the base layer from white cardstock and the upper layer from an aqua blue cardstock. The red bow was cut from the Pretty Bows die set. Finally, I added a string to the tag using red and white baker’s twine and a few pink gem sequins finish this lovely tag.
