The new release by Brass and Bliss Craft Co. is called “Whispers of Fall” and it truly has lots of sweet “whispers” or glimpses of the autumn season. From a barn and a big pumpkin to fall florals, trees and books, this release is intriguing, and warm and cozy feeling like the fall months. With days getting shorter and dark evenings longer, I find myself reading more in the evening. Our book club begins to meet regularly after a long, busy summer off. I made four cards for the new release that are all focused on reading. If you get these sets, you have to get the new sentiment set, too! It is TERRIFIC with clever sayings that any reader would love! I’m using the following new products from the latest release:

Bookshelf Beauty Die

Cozy Chapters stamps and coordinating dies

Between the Pages stamps

Sunflower Serenade stamps and coordinating dies

Fall Floral dies

Whispers of Fall 6″ X 9″ paper pad

From prior releases:

Nested Rounded Square With Stitch Die

Fall Foliage Die

Set Pine Bough Die

For the Book Hoarder

This 5″ X 7″ card is one of my favorites. Perhaps I love it because it is so fun to color. The whimsical nature of the Cozy Chapters stamps illustration style shows through in every element. I used Copic Sketch markers to color it. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out. I added extra leaves falling down, above the books and an apple to the left of the books.

I used a layered 1/2″ strip of a warm gray and a 1/8″ strip of black cardstock to create a horizonal “grounding” area for the books and pumpkin. I like to use my white Gelly Roll Pen for white highlight accents on the pumpkin, scarf, apple and books. I stamped a sentiment from the Between the Pages stamps in the lower half of the front panel to complete the card.

For the Tidy Book Lover

For this 5″ X 7″ card, I wanted the Bookshelf Beauty Die to look like it was on the wall, in the interior of a home. I created wainscotting on the lower half of the wall using a warm gray cardstock and 1/8″ strips along the top and down to the floor verticals. I die cut both sizes of wall shelves and colored them to look like woodgrain. My go-to Copic markers for woodgrain includes E50, E55, E57, E42 and E43 with some W2 mixed in for a more weathered look. I wanted these to look like an oak/walnut coloring so I did not add gray this time. For the bookends, I wanted them to look like a buff carved stone so I used the E40s and E50s and added specks of black and white to them.

I added books to the bookshelves using the dies in the set.  Next, I added some florals and leaves to dress them up a little more. I used the Fall Floral and the Fall Foliage dies. I added the apple using the Cozy Chapters stamps and coordinating dies. Lastly, I added a phrase from the Between the Pages stamps at the top. I cut the sentiment into two pieces and placed them in a row to fit the space at the top of the card.

For the Avid Reader

For this 5″ X 7″ card, I used one of the papers from the Whispers of Fall 6″ X 9″ paper pad. I used the Nested Rounded Square With Stitch Die cut from an ivory cardstock I stamped a sentiment from the Between the Pages stamps right below the rounded square block using a black ink. This pattern is so small, it’s easy to read the sentiment directly stamped on it. I stamped and die cut  the book design and colored it using Copic markers. I added florals around the book stack using the new Fall Floral dies. A few rhinestones finished it off!

For the Story Lover

I think books open our lives into something bigger. When I saw this bold and beautiful sunflower in the release, I felt it needed to be shown as growing out of a book. Our worlds get bigger and brighter when we read! I colored and die cut the sunflower using the Sunflower Serenade stamps and coordinating dies. The books are a stamp from the Cozy Chapters stamps and coordinating dies.

The shelf is from the Bookshelf Beauty Die. Below the shelf, I added a little pattern paper piecing “wallpaper” using papers from the Whispers of Fall 6″ X 9″ paper pad. There are so many pretty, coordinating prints that I thought it would be fun to use three of them. I cut down the 5″ X 7″ front panel and attached it to a 5″ X 7″ warm gray piece of cardstock, allowing a nice gray frame around the entire design. The sentiment is from the Between the Pages stamps.
