Minimalist Flowers Greeting Card Inspiration

My 5″ X 7″ card features the new Minimalist Flowers Press Plate and coordinating die for the focal point of this card. This floral press plate has a coordinating stencil set that allows for easy and stunning coloring of the design. I used the press plate to “stamp” or press the floral design and “thank you” sentiment on white cardstock. I used Distress Oxide Inks in Villainous Potion, Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry for the blooms. I also used Mustard Seed for the flower centers. I use a blender brush to apply the ink to the stencil openings. Once the stenciling was complete, I used the outline die to die cut the design. I also “stamped” and die cut the words, “thank you.”
Using the Classic Foliage Die Set, I die cut leaves to add around flowers. I die cut them from a warm gray cardstock and used a Copic W5 marker to color the stems a darker shade from the leaves. A little W1 sweep on the leaves helps soften the color change.

To make the background, I die cut an A7 card base measuring 5″ wide X 7″ tall. I splattered the front with violet watercolor paint. I set it aside to dry. In the meantime, I cut 5″ wide X 1″ tall cardstock strips in two shades of aqua. I also cut 1/8′ strips of a violet lavender and layered them between the larger strips. I attached all of the strips to the splattered card base, leaving white space above and below on the card front. This strips design is a great way to use up the “extra’ cardstock in your cut stash.
I attached the floral bouquet to the card front with four foam tabs to make the bouquet stand out and off the background. I glued in leaves around the florals by tucking the stems behind the blossoms. I added a few black specks to the strips using a fine-tip black marker. Lastly, I attached the “thank you” sentiment to the last strip on the front.
