I have a new card up today for the Newton’s Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #89. If you’re not participating in this challenge already, you should give it a try. You have until Friday to post a card. Unlike some challenges that have 100s of entries, this one is a bit smaller so your chances of winning is much greater! You can win a gift certificate to use at Newton’s Nook. Have you seen the latest release?! Too cute! A winner is chosen randomly for the certificate. We also choose projects to highlight for there creative use of stamps, design, etc.

This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge shown below. I used the stamp set, Sending Hugs  and coordinating dies for this card. The dies are essential for this set because they cut out the characters arms in the set so that they can hold things like the cute valentine envelope I used here. I created the branch by hand and added the owl. I created clouds in the background and also added a custom striped strip down the left side to fit the challenge. This striped strip is a fun way to use of cardstock scraps and create just the right pattern paper to match your card. I played with the sketch’s proportions a bit to fit my focal point. I hand drew the stacks of envies and then added more envies from the set. The little kite flying high in the sky is from the Delightful Doxies stamp set, another fun and playful set! I love this owl, but there are so many cute images in this set. Check it out at Newton’s Nook!
