It’s summertime and time for a new Inky Paws Challenge to begin! Newton’s Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #103 is about creating a summer-themed project. Play along with us by linking up a card for summer by Friday, August 9, 2019. Anyone can participate, but only entries using Newton’s Nook products will be eligible for the random winner drawing for a store credit at Newton’s Nook Designs. 

To me, nothing screams summer, like ice cream! I used the following Newton’s Nook products to create my inspiration card for this theme:

To make this card, I started by stamping, coloring and die cutting five of the delicious treats from the Summer Scoops set. I have the die set, too, so I also die cut each shape out of white craft foam. The images were colored using Copic Sketch Markers in bright colors. I glued the craft foam onto the backs of each of the treats and set aside.

Next, I speckled watercolor on the white background in bright colors to match the images and used the words from the Tropical Fringe set to create a “background paper” for these delicious delights! Of course, I chose the words “Hello, Summer” and “Good vibes” from the Tropical Fringe set for this themed challenge. I attached the treats to the front, carefully choosing “blank” areas around the background words. This gave me a more unexpected and interesting layout (instead of a horizontal row) without even working at it. 🙂 Lastly, I added faux sprinkles to the front for more fun and dimension.
