If you look at my latest posts, it’s no secret that I have fallen in love with this Cosmo Stencil! The flowers in this stencil are big, bold and and gorgeous when combined with distressed inks. In my prior post, I used a more subtle pink look. For this card, I went more bold with my color choices.

I’m using products from the latest Simon Says Stamp Love You release for this card. This release went live on 12/9/2020 and is ready for you to shop! The beautiful CZ Design “Just Because” die cut is also part of this release. I’m so excited to have this die because with the pandemic, I find myself sending cards to those not able to leave their home. It’s nice to send a note, “just because…”

Lastly, I used a phrase from the new Love Greetings Mix stamp set on the card. This phrase turns the card from a general “thinking of you” card to an anniversary, wedding or Valentine’s Day greeting.

Just Because Cosmo Card

To make this card, I started with 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock for the card base of this 5″ X 7″ card (cut size 10″ wide X 7″ tall) . I also cut another card front panel measuring 5″ X 7″ from a light pink cardstock. On this panel, I stenciled the floral design using Ranger Distressed Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet for the floral centers. I darkened the edges of the panel using Seedless Preserves, too. I liked the darker shade and applied it to some of the centers to create more contrast. I also splashed a little water on it and pulled some color off by dabbing with a paper towel, I removed the stencil and then splattered white paint on the top. Small dots of glitter were added around the floral centers for some sparkle using a Glitter Pen (like NUVO).

Since the stencil is 6″ X 6″, I added a white band measuring 5″ wide X 1-1/2″ tall to the bottom of the card front panel (allowing a small band of pink at the bottom to show) and die cut the Just Because die from the same pink as the card base for the shadow piece and a deep plum color cardstock for the words. I stamped the “I love you…” phrase from the Love Greetings Mix stamp set in a dark plum color (Memento ink) to match the die cut. Everything was glued and adhered together using HBS Precision Glue to finish this lovely card.
