Hello, friends! It’s Friday and time for a little Paperie Ink inspiration. I have a “sweet-heart” card for your sweetheart to share. I think we will be sending this to an older lady friend we know that is in her 90s. She’s the sweetest lady around!
For this 5″ X 7″ card, I’m using the Like Christmas stamp set (yes, a Christmas set!) by Paperie Ink for the fox, raccoon and birds. I’m also using a new stencil by Honey Bee Stamps called, Whimsical Hearts Background Stencil. It’s a very subtle background, but very soft and pretty in person. I used it with my Altenew Evening Gray ink. I’m using 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock for the card base, card front, heart and all the critters.
For the heart, I blended Distressed Oxide inks in Candied Apple and Picked Raspberry and splattered water on it to lift color and create the splotchy look. I also splattered diluted white paint and shimmer mist to create more depth on the paper. I die cut the heart using a Honey Bee Stamps die set called, Pierced XOXO Pierced Hearts die set. I also used an old Stampin’ Up paper punch and punched out five small hearts from the inked paper to add later.
I punched two holes in the heart and strung some natural hemp twine through the holes. I added a flat oval “shadow mark” to the base of the heart on the card front. This will “ground” our critters that are holding the heart. Now for the critters…
I stamped, colored and cut out the fox, raccoon and birds. I used the following Copic Markers to color them:
- Fox – R00, R01, R20, C3, C1, C0
- Raccoon – W3, W1, W0, C9, C7, C5, C3, R20, R00
- Birds – B000, B00, YR65, Rv00, R00
I attached the animals using Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares so they stand out a bit. I used an ultra-fine gold marker to draw lines over the birds to look like the hemp twine is being held in their feathers or mouth. I added shading under the critters on the oval design. I added the small hearts and stamped the phrase at the base. The phrase is from a Simon Says Stamp set called, “You have my heart.” I’m not sure it is available anymore. I couldn’t find it in the Simon store. It’s an older set and a cute one, too!
To finish this 5″ X 7″ greeting card, I machine sewed a border around the perimeter. You could use a die for that or hand draw faux stitches using a Uni-bell Signo White Gel Pen. I added shadows around the hearts using a W3 Copic to make the hearts pop off the background. They look so much better with the shadow lines. And, that’s all folks!
