For my projects, I’m using the following products from the Handmade Holiday release:
In addition to the new items, I’m also using the following Simon Says Stamp products: CZ Design Chunky Joy Wafer die, Hand Lettered Holiday Background stamp and the Good Cheer bundle.
I have three projects to share – one 5″ X 7″ greeting card and two holiday gift tags. I used a combination of gold, white and black – a classic look for the holidays.
Tall Pines Holiday Greeting
To make this 5″X7″ card, I started by embossing the Tall Pines design on gold metallic cardstock. Since I make A7 cards, I trimmed the design to 4″ wide X 7″ tall. I added Delicata White Shimmer ink to the design to make the trees stand out. I rolled the ink on using a rubber brayer. I splattered white paint and metallic watercolor paint in gold using my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors (48), over the top. I also heat embossed the Hand Lettered Holiday Background stamp in the upper right corner using white Wow! Bright White Opaque Embossing Powder.
I attached the metallic gold panel to an A7 white card base made from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. I added the Etched Delicate Frond die to the front in white (using same white cardstock) and gold and added a phrase to the front. For the phrase, I stamped it in black then applied Versamark to only the bottom of the phrase and embossed it in gold metallic. I used my MISTI tool to do this. I die cut the phrase using the coordinating dies and added a black die cut to offset just a bit for a shadow. The phrase was attached using Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares to make it stand out.
Merry Everything Tag
I used the largest tag die from the Hero Arts Nesting Tag die set for the base of this holiday gift tag. This tag uses many of the same products I used in the card above. I used the same process for the phrase, stamping in black and then stamping again in Versamark and embossing in gold.
To finish this quick tag, I added gold satin baubles to the front. Any sequins or gems would work here. I also added a gold metallic string that I’ve had for years, to the opening at the top. Easy peasy!
Joy Frond Tag
I used the largest tag die from the Hero Arts Nesting Tag die set for the base of this holiday gift tag. I die cut it in white cardstock and in a warm-colored gray cardstock. I splattered lots of watercolor on it to prepare it for this tag. I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors (48) to do this. I tore a section off at the bottom to allow the white tag to show through. The two tags were layered and adhered together.
I added the CZ Design Chunky Joy Wafer die cut, done in vellum and black cardstock as well as two white fronds using the Etched Delicate Frond die to the front. The Happy Holidays phrase was stamped at the bottom (from the Good Cheer stamp set.) I used a metalllic gold pen to add specks of gold in the “O” letter as well as gold Nuvo drops. Iridescent gems finished the look along with a gold string at the top.
