Hello! Today I’m using these fun, new butterfly dies I received from Bibi Cameron. I just had to dress them up in blooming flower dresses and add a couple of eyes to each. I’m using Bibi’s latest die set that she designed for Spellbinders called, So Many Butterflies. There are five butterflies in the set and the largest one is really big! It measures 5″ wide by 4″ long and fits inside an A2 envelope. It’s so big, I made these cards out of them.
The featured projects below are made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panels. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use the Bee Creative Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink Pad for all heat embossing and Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue for adhering my elements together.
Butterfly Card Bases
To make these card bases, I die cut the butterfly shape, allowing the top of the wings to extend beyond my top-fold white card base measuring 5-1/4″ X 4-1/2″. This creates the folded butterfly shape card. I also cut a single layer butterfly shape for the card front panel. This panel will be adhered to the card base, concealing any ink bleeding and “snipped” wings at the top of the card design. Now comes the fun… decorating the butterflies!
Pink and Lavender Cone Flower Butterfly Card
For the butterfly wings, I used Festive Berries and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks to color the large wings. I stamped words on the right side wings using Trinity Stamps, Encouragement Text background stamp and added sequins in lavenders to the wings. Using a Copic 100 black marker, I added eyes on the butterfly head and colored in the antennas.
I used the Lovely Layers: Coneflower by Honey Bee Stamps for the dress of this Princess butterfly. I used lavender and red/pinks to color the flower. I splattered on white watercolor paint to the petals to make them more dimensional. I used Bee Creative Precision Glue to attach the layers together to create the sweet, layered party dress. Lavender and pink sequins finished the look.
Yellow and Coral Sunflower Butterfly Card
To color the wings, I used Mustard Seed for the base and layered Worn Lipstick on the top using the Whimsical Hearts Stencil for the pattern layer.
I made a large sunflower party dress using Honey Bee Stamps, Lovely Layers: Sunflower die set. The sunflower petal tips were colored using R22, R21 and R20 Copic markers. The center was colored using Worn Lipstick and R14 and R17 Copics. I attached the sunflower to the wings and added sequins by Honey Bee Stamps, Pretty Poppies clay bits and Jewel of White bling.
