Hello. It’s Bobbi here with a card featuring the Elegant Leaves stamps and dies set by Sunny Studio Stamps. I love gold and pink together so this color combination works for me. I contrasted these beautiful, subtle autumn colors with a strong black and white stripe for a little punch on this card.
To create this 5″ X 7″ card, I stamped the leaves and blossoms in this fall set using Distress Oxide Inks in Saltwater Taffy, Fossilized Amber, Ground Espresso, and Forest Moss. I cut them using the coordinating dies. I set the leaves aside to work on the front panel background.
For the background, I cut 1/2″ strips from black cardstock and attached four of them to the front of a white A7 card base, distributing them evenly over the front. After attaching the strips, I used my Versamark Watermark ink pad to stamp the words, “Grateful for your kindness” on the black strips, aligning the words on the right hand side. I heat embossed the words in white, using an opaque white embossing powder. The “grateful” word is actually taller than the 1/2″ strip so the letters fall off a bit, but I liked keeping the strips even and left it as is. If this bothers you, you can make the strips just a bit wider to fit the entire scripted word. I think the “clean” look comes in keeping the strips the same size.
To complete the card, I attached the leaves to the left side of each strip to balance the words on the right. Lastly, I added specks of black to the leaves and around the leaves on the card base using a fine-tip black marker. Tip: I used a felt-tip marker v. a Copic Marker so there was not ink bleed in the inside of the card. This card does not require a separate front panel piece, keeping it light and flat for mailing.
