Do you love birds? Do you love Christmas? I have a set for you if you answered “yes” to these questions. The new Season’s Tweetings stamps and dies by Simon Says Stamp is an adorable set with festively styled outerwear. I have two cards to share that I made with this set.

My cards below measure 5″ X 7″ and fit inside an A7 envelope. I’m using 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock for the card fronts and card bases. Everything is stamped using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. I use Simon Says Stamp Dot Runner Tape Adhesive to attach the elements together. Here’s the details.

A Cardinal Christmas

For this 5″ X 7″ card, I stamped, die cut and colored the two birds, three berry sprigs, one holly sprig and one candy cane. I used the following Copic Sketch Marker colors to color the images:

  • Reds: R89, R29, R17, R14
  • Greens: YG67, YG63, YG61, YG03
  • Pinks: RV09, RV55, RV02
  • Browns: E53, E50, E43, E42, E40
  • Blues: B95, B93, B91
  • Blacks: 100, C9, C7, C5
  • Oranges: R08, YR68

I hand cut two branches from brown cardstock. These don’t have to be perfect in anyway since most of the branch gets covered. I stenciled the background using the Snow Pattern Stencil  with Simon Says Stamp Winter Sky Ink, using a blender brush.  I added a few individual snowflakes on the edge of the stenciled design.

I finished the card by stamping “Merry Christmas” in the lower right corner of the card. The sentiment, “Season’s Tweetings” would be really cute on this card, too!

A Tweeting Tree Trio

For my second card, I did similar steps as the previous card, using Tumbled Glass for the background with the Snow Pattern Stencil. I used and ink blender brush to apply the stencil design. I die cut six Whirl Layered trees from white cardstock and ink blended Rustic Wilderness and Crushed Olive on the trees. I used Ground Espresso for the tree trunk.

I stamped, die cut and colored the birds. I used the following colors:

  • Browns: E53, E50, E42, E41, E44
  • Reds: R89, R46, R29, R17, R14
  • Red-Violets: RV09, RV55, RV02 RV00
  • Blues: B45, B41, B21
  • Yellow-Reds: YR27, YR24, YR68, YR09
  • Violets: V04, V12

I added some shading to the snow landscape to give it some depth and texture. I used Copics in BV000, BV00, B0000, B000, B00. I added gem stickers in festive colors to resemble Christmas lights on the trees. I added  white gems by the birds’ feet to resemble snowballs. Lastly, I sprinkled the whole card front with white paint for falling snow and stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner to complete the card.
