Hello, Bee friends! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here with some fun cards for Dad. Father’s Day is right around the corner and how can we forget our dads?! I’m sharing two cards that feature several new sets from the last release, Let’s Celebrate by Honey Bee Stamps. I enjoyed making these masculine cards and I hope you like them! I’m using the following products:
Kiss the Cook stamp and coordinating die set
Bill the Bear stamp set (for the flames only)
Funfetti Birthday 6″ X 6″ paper pad
Team Tie-Dye 6″ X 6″ paper pad
Home Essentials 6″ X 6″ paper pad
Card 1: Nine Bottles of Beer for Dad
My first 5″ X 7″ card uses the beer bottle from the Apron: BBQ Add-On die set. I die cut 9 bottles and colored them using the following Copic colors combinations, coloring with the darkest on the outside (listed first) to the lightest (listed last) color on the inside of the bottle. Where the neck connects to the bottle body, I added additional shading using the darker colors.
- Green bottles: YG99, YG63, YG61, G40
- Brown bottles: E57, E55, Y32, Y21
I wanted to personalize each beer bottle so I added a label to each one by punching out 5/8″ circles from the Funfetti Birthday 6″ X 6″ paper pad and attaching them to the bottles. I trimmed the sides to fit the bottle and added words to some of them with a .05mm tip black marker such as “ALE” and “LITE.” I used a Uni-ball Signo silver pen to add a silver cap on the bottles at the top.
For the card body, I cut a 5″ X 7″ card base from Neenah 80lb cardstock (10″ X 7″ scored and folded at 5″) and added a 5″ wide X 6″ long blended background I created for the Team Tie Dye 6″ X 6″ paper pad. Yes, I created this paper design! In fact, all of the fun papers in this pad were created by the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team members. Because the paper is 6″ square and my card is 7″ long, I added a wood plank to the bottom using paper from the Home Essentials 6″ X 6″ paper pad. After attaching the wood-looking paper, I added Nuvo Dirty Bronze Drops dots to the board’s perimeter area to look like rusty nail heads. Very manly looking, don’t you think?!
Once the background papers were adhered to the card base, I added the beer bottles, lining them up in a 3 X 3 grid. I set the bottom corner two bottles at a diagonal for a “cheers” clink for Dad. I used the Kiss the Cook stamp and coordinating die set for the phrase. I stamped and die cut the design. Behind it, I layered five blank cuts using Bee Creative Precision Glue (to make it stand out more) and attached it below the clinking bottles to finish this card. It’s ready to give Dad!
Card 2: Well Done, Dad!
My second card is also a 5″ X 7″ card and features many fun utensils from the Apron: BBQ Add-On die set. I die cut each one from metallic silver cardstock (1 set) and white cardstock (2 sets). I backed each metallic cut with a white one for stability and then cut the handles from the second white shape and glued them OVER the silver cut for the wood handle using Bee Creative Precision Glue. The wood handles were colored in using E57, E55 and E43 for a woodgrain look. I added Nuvo Vintage Drops in black for the screws that hold the blade in place. The ketchup and mustard bottles were also colored using the following colors:
- Ketchup: R89, R46, R17, R14
- Mustard: E55, Y28, Y26, Y19, Y21
For the Weber brand-inspired grill, I used a 1-3/4″ circle, cut in half and added thin black strips for the legs of the grill and the top edge. I used the meat cleaver handle for the grill handle on the side, too. Bronze Nuvo Drops were used for the screws on the grill. I used the camp fire flames from the Bill the Bear stamp set for the fire. I stamped the image three times and fussy cut it out. I colored the flames with R46, R17, R14, YR04, YR21, leaving a little white to show through, too.
For the card base, I cut a 5″ X 7″ card base from Neenah 80lb cardstock (10″ X 7″ scored at 5″) and added a 5″ wide X 6″ long wood plank background using paper from the Home Essentials 6″ X 6″ paper pad. A 1″ strip of white card base shows through at the bottom. I positioned the grill in place and stamped the “well done” phrase right above the grill in Versamark ink and heat embossed it in white. “Dad, you’re the best” phrase was stamped in black to the left of the grill, on the white base.
The grilling utensils were hung from a strip of white 2-3/4″ long X 1/2″ tall plank also from the Home Essentials 6″ X 6″ paper pad. I added Nuvo Dirty Bronze Drops for hangers for each one. I stamped and die cut the “Happy Father’s Day” phrase from the Kiss the Cook stamp and coordinating die set and attached it to the card front using Scrapbook Adhesive .25″ foam tabs to make it stand out and to create a “ledge” for the condiment bottles, positioned right above. I think this card is “fire!”
