Happy New Year! New Years always reminds me of the first baby of the year. My older sister, Kathy was the first baby of the year in 1957. Her birthday is January 15! She was born in a smaller community hospital. 🙂 Today, the new year’s baby is generally born within a minute of the new year. My card today celebrates all the new year’s babies of 2021. I’m using a new set by Paperie Ink called, Sweet Christmas.
I used the sweet babies in the set and colored them in blues and pinks. The middle baby was positioned on a baking sheet. After all, this baby (gingerbread) was “baked” with love and care. To make the cookie sheet, I cut a rectangle out of silver metallic cardstock and rounded the corners and scored the sides to make them curve up like a cookie sheet. I used a Uni-bell Signo White Gel Pen to add a little dusting of leftover flour on the sheet.
To make the front panel background of this 5″ X 7″ card, I die cut stitched hexagons using a die from Penguin Palace Stamps and hand drew patterns on each one to mimic a baby quilt made of cotton patterns. Lastly, I stamped a white hexagon with the phrase and cut it down to a simple strip. I positioned it under the cookie sheet and adhered in place. I use HBS Precision Glue to adhere everything in place.
