Simon Says Stamp is celebrating Diecember with more dies! I’m using the “Thinking of You” die from the You are Loved collection, released this week. The first look uses the die in its cut form. I paired it with the Cosmo Flower Frame die, another die also available at Simon Says Stamp. The frame die cuts out a full square window. I added a transparency that I colored using alcohol inks in blues and yellows. When you open the card, you can see this beautiful color shine with the light coming through from behind. I layered the sentiment slightly over the window to connect the two die design elements.
My second card uses the reversed cut from the Thinking of you die. I cut it from two colors of cardstock and did an inlay design using the cuts. I also added more dimension by using the Outline Floral Frame die (recently released this month) to create the borders. I took the cutouts from the flowers and added them to look like falling petals on the front. I also cut out one of the flowers from the side of the border die and added it as an accent to the phrase box. A sequin in the middle of the flower acts as the center of the blossom. Did you notice that I used the cutouts from the coral color on the bottom of the phrase (in the blue area)? I thought it made it a little unexpected by doing that little change. 🙂 The last thing I added was some tiny random dots to fit with the falling petals using Glass Effect Gel in Opaque White. I’m not sure this German product is sold in the United States anymore, but it is similar to Nuvo Simply White Crystal Drops.
Just a side note…I did not have the right coral color envelope to go with this card so I got out my trusty We R Memory Keepers Punch Board Envelope Maker and made one using 12″ X 12″ cardstock in the same coral color. My card is a 5″ X 7″ card so a 9-1/2″ square cardstock piece is needed to create a coordinating envelope. Thanks for visiting! Leave comments and let me know which one is your fave!
