What’s more fun than a pack of corgis dancing at an evening Hawaiian luau?! This is the last week to participate in the Newton’s Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #103. It’s a summer-themed challenge and what’s more summery than a beautiful evening sunset and outdoor fun. I’m using the following Newton’s Nook products for this inspiration card:

My card is a bridge card design and measures 5″ X 7″ when folded down to fit in an envelope.  I started by ink blending the background using distressed inks in Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade. I splattered water on the ink and blotted off the excess using a paper towel to create the water spots. I also added a few white dots using my Signo Uni-ball white pen for evening stars. Next, I scored the sides to create the side panels for the bridge. Once the score lines were in place, I stamped the palm trees using black ink, allowing a center space for the “Aloha Friend” circular design. I also added a sandy beach using Copics along the bottom edge of the card base. To create the beach I used Copic E shades and added dots in black and white for seashell pieces.

I cut two pieces to bridge the sides for the pups to stand on in two rows (see view from top to see these pieces). I stamped colored and die cut the five corgis. I also stamped the Tropical Fringe and phrase, added ink around the edges and punched it out using a circular punch. I matted it with a black larger circle. I adhered the circular phrase design to the backdrop. The five corgis were glued to the two bridge pieces, 3 in front and 2 in the back row for the scene.

These corgis are so fun. In fact, this entire Corgi Beach stamp set is super cute and perfect for the summer months. Check it out at Newton’s Nook Designs.  Now it’s your turn to share a summery card…

Join us for the Inky Paws Challenge #103 by Friday, August 9 to participate!
