Hello Bee friends! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here, to share another holiday project with you. When I was young, my family and I would go to a tree farm / lot and pick out our Christmas tree for our home. The Douglas Fir trees were always my favorite kind of tree. This card scene brings back memories of my childhood. It’s Santa Claus and one of his helpers at the tree lot. They have selected a tree, loaded it into Santa’s red pickup truck, and are ready to take it home to decorate!
I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products from the Vintage Holiday release:
Loads of Holiday Cheer stamp set and coordinating die set
Bitty Buzzwords: Holidays stamp set
Big Pickup Tailgate stamp set and coordinating die set (from a prior release)
This card measures 5″ X 7″ and fits inside an A7 envelope for mailing.
To make this card, I started by stamping all the elements from the Loads of Holiday Cheer stamp set and the Big Pickup Tailgate stamp set. Santa Claus was stamped directly inside the pickup cab. I colored the images with Copics using the following colors:
- Reds: R9, R29, R24, R17 and R14
- Cool Grays: C9, C7, C5, C3 and C1
- Yellows: YR27, YR24, Y19, Y13
- Blues: B000, B00, B04
- Browns: E43, E41, E57, E50
- Violets: V05, V04
- Greens: YG67, YG03, YG00
I die cut all of the colored elements using the Loads of Holiday Cheer coordinating dies and the Big Pickup Tailgate coordinating dies. I also die cut various pine trees using the Pine Trees Honey Cuts from green cardstock and splattered each one with white paint. I hand cut a custom tall wood pole and “tree farm” sign and colored them to look like wood. I attached the sign to the pole.
I adhered all the elements to a 5″ X 7″ card front panel cut from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock. The truck and its bed contents were attached to the panel as well as all of the pine trees, pole, sign and hanging lights. One little elf helper was nestled between the trees on the lot. I lengthened her legs to stand on the ground. A soft cloudy sky was colored in on the background and shading below the truck and trees finished the front.
Inside my card, I stamped the word and phrase from the Bitty Buzzwords: Holidays stamp set. I had one extra pine tree left so I cut it down and added it above the “believe” word to finish off the inside. I love the touch of green inside the card. This card is ready for the holidays!
