Hi there. Purple Onion Designs has a new holiday release called Snowing Cats and Dogs. I’m using several of the cute images from this collection on my sorta silly, slimline card today, including:

Fido’s House

Fido (dog in snow bank)

Lucy Lou (dog with bone garland)

Snow capped sign (from the Snow Much Fun collection by the same artist, Shari Bresciani)

To make this slimline holiday greeting, measuring 8-1/2″ wide X 3-1/2″ tall, I started with a card base and a front panel cut from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. For the background, I used Peacock Feathers Distressed Oxide Ink and water to make a splotted background sky. I splattered white paint over it and set is aside to dry.

I stamped the cute images from the Snowing Cats and Dogs collection and colored them in using Copics. I used the following colors:

  • Browns: E57, E55, E43, E50
  • Reds: R89, R29, R17, R14
  • Blues: B02, B00, B000
  • Grays: 100 (black), C9, C7, C5, C3, C1
  • Greens: YG67, YG03, YG))
  • Yellow: Y19, Y13

All of the images were cut out and outlined in a W4 to shadow and “remove” the white edge from the designs.

I add two layers of snowy drifts on the bottom by hand cutting white cardstock strip scraps with rolling edges on the top. Both were attached to the bottom of my card to “ground” the images. I attached the images using my double-sided tape runner. Fido, Lucy and the sign were attached using Scrapbook Adhesives White Foam Squares to make them stand out a bit. I added the word, “Frosty” on the sign by hand (Fido turned Frosty in this scene :)).

She thought….”Why stop with the dog house?!” Lucy got a little excited about decorating this year, so I stamped and cut out another bone string from the image and made a hand-drawn ornament and attached them to Frosty in the scene. I used a fine-tip black marker to add the string/bows to Frosty’s ears.

The card front was attached to the card base to complete this holiday greeting! This fits inside a business-sized envelope for mailing.
