I am so excited to share with you that I am designing for Honey Bee Stamps on the social media team! I love Honey Bee branded products so much and love to create with them. Today is my first official post as a team member and I can’t wait to share my card with you.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I’ve got love and hearts on my brain! I’m also a huge fan of the Blah Bunny (and matching dies set) and Blah, Blah, Blah stamp sets because of all the clever things you can do with these two together. There are so many fun words in the phrase set that just fit so well with the funny bunny. They are phrases you don’t find in other sets. Today, this silly character has plucked every petal off the garden daisies from the set Busy Bees (and matching dies) to learn whether she loves him or loves him not. Good news – she loves him. 🙂 It only took six plucked daisies to find out. With bare buds, the cute little bee in the scene is not so excited about the situation. All those lovely daisy blooms are gone! (:
Creating cards with custom phrases can be fun, but also tricky. I had to get a little creative to make this one. The words in the speech bubble, “Loves me, love me not, loves me” were not in either sets. Fortunately, the word “me” was in the Blah, Blah stamp set as well as the top phrase on the card. Now all I needed was the small heart from the stamp set, Busy Bee for the word “love” and a little custom lettering to make the word “love” plural and the word “not.” The font style of Blah, Blah is more of a handwritten and imperfect style which makes it a lot easier to match the lettering by hand. The speech bubble was also hand-drawn to fit the custom phrase.
Using the Busy Bee stamp and matching die set, I cut all the petals off the daisies with a scissors to create a bed of petals on the ground for our love-struck bunny. I used the daisy centers to create the petal-free flowers. That cute bee was actually a freebie gift I received from Honey Bee in my last stamp set order. It’s tiny which makes it fun to use. Sometimes you need just a little something for a card. 🙂 It came with a small matching die, too! The sky was created using the Cloud Border Stencil and Broken China distressed ink. All the images were colored using Copics in W1, W3, W5, YG67, YG03, RV04, RV55, RV00, Y38, Y19, Y04, C3 and maybe a few more. 🙂 This card could be used for Valentine’s day, an anniversary or wedding engagement.
