Hello, friends! I’ve got a bright card to share today that was inspired by 1950’s mid-century modern design. The attention to shapes, colors and glossy enamel make this card a perfect MCM look. I used some newer products from Honey Bee Stamps  to create the friend greeting. Honey Bee came out with various shape dies that cut the shape in small increments to create thin frames and one centerpiece. For example, The Polygon Thin Frame die that I’m using today creates 11 thin frames and one centerpiece. These can be used individually as thin frames or put together to create fun designs.

I made this 5″ X 7″ card by putting the thin frames together in different patterns using six cardstock colors – black, gray, white, pink, chartreuse and yellow. I used the following Honey Bee Stamps products:

Polygon Thin Frames die

Spring Bouquets die set

Friend Buzzword die set

Friend Buzzword stamp set

Black Enamel Dots

White Gel Pen

To make this card, I first cut multiple polygons in all of the colors and then mixed them up to create unique color patterns. I made the center polygon in all black to be a high contrast background to the Spring Bouquets Flowers. I glued them all on a 5″ X 7″ card front panel, allowing the edges to fall off the panel. The card front panel edges were trimmed off.

I added the flowers using the die cuts from the Spring Bouquets Flowers and accented with white dots using the pen around the bouquet. I also stamped “friend” and die cut the word and shadow layers using all three layers of the “friend” die. The shadow (white) layer was also die cut from 3mm black foam to make it pop up. I like to use foam so that it mails nicely and sturdier with no sagging between foam dots. The layers were glued together and attached to the front of the card. Black glossy enamel dots were added to the daisy centers for a clean and contemporary look. I love mid-century modern design and this card really bring that look home in a greeting card.
