Hello Bee friends! It is Bobbi here with a heart-filled encouragement card. Lately, I’ve needed more thinking of you/caring cards. Breast cancer, loss of a loved one, sickness… these events are painful and difficult. A card can help those that are suffering, to know they are not alone. There is always someone to lean on during life’s greatest challenges. This card is extra-special with its peek-a-boo heart built into the card base and its multiple, caring sentiments. I am using the following Honey Bee Stamps products for this 5″ X 7″ interactive card:

Pierced XOXO Hearts – Honey Cuts

Giddy for Gingham Paper Pad

The featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and heart insert. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue for adhering my elements together. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.

To make this card, I started by die cutting a large heart from my 5″ X 7″ scored card base, allowing the left side of the heart die to “fall off” the scored edge, before putting it through my die cutting machine. I cut two more faux-stitched hearts from gingham pattern paper using the same die and covered the front and the interior of the heart with the print. Once I matched the hearts up, I simply hand cut the “extra” piece that extended beyond the scored edge. I set the heart aside to work on the peony.

I cut the peony layers from a pink cardstock and enhanced the petals shadows using Copic Markers. I used six red-violet colors to define the petals, keeping darker colors in the shaded areas. Here’s the colors I used: RV00, RV02, RV52, RV55, RV09, and RV19. To make the peony more dimensional, I also added some 1/2″white foam dots between layers one and two (from the bottom). The greens were cut from green cardstock and further shaded with Copics in YG67, YG25 and YG17. I also cut a few from a warm gray cardstock, too. I splattered the leaves with black and green watercolor paint for interest. I attached the peony and greenery to the front of the stitched heart die card, allowing some of the greenery to extend beyond the heart cutout. This is important to keep the heart in place when the card is opened. A sentiment was added to the front using a few white foam dots.

I stamped, colored and die cut the beautiful floral heart from the Hello Sweetheart stamp set and coordinating die sets. I used the same Copic colors I used on the peony and greenery to color the image. I attached the image to the inside of the heart inset. I also added a sentiment, “HERE FOR YOU always” on the inside of the front heart cover. The heart is now complete and ready to be attached to the card base.

For the 5″ X 7″ card base that will hold the heart card inset, I splattered the front with pinks and fuchsia watercolors and let it dry. I cut the card base down, leaving a one inch “tab” to the right of the scored edge. I sandwiched the tab between two 5″ X 7″ white panels to hide it and to create the 5″ X 7″ base. The gingham heart was glued in place to the interior of the 5″ X 7″ card base, aligning it perfectly with the heart cutout on the front panel.

I added another sentiment, “I love you bunches” to the inside of the card base, below the heart. I also added a few sequin bits to the front for a little extra sparkly love!
